The Hadass branch is part of the Lulav and Etrog set used on Sukkot, along with the aravot [willow branches]. The myrtle branches are required when waving the Lulav. The myrtle leaves grow in sets of three and according to rabbinic traditions, the more stringent checking looks for those whose leaves grow evenly in each of the sets.
