Michael Elkayam, born in Morocco in 1954, is the scion of an illustrious family of scholars and craftsmen renowned for their jewelry, calligraphy and copper relief inscriptions and ornaments. Michael arrived in Israel with his family in 1956. His works employ both classic and contemporary artistic techniques, reflecting the timeless elements of Jewish symbolism. His subjects focus on mysticism and other Jewish themes: Ritual objects, amulets, blessings, images from the Bible, the synagogue and Jewish home, holidays etc. Michael Elkayam is a member of the Israel Association of Artists and Sculptures and has exhibited his works extensively in Israel and abroad.
