Nahum Gutman was born in Russia in 1898. He immigrated to Israel with his parents in 1905. He studied at the Bezalel Art Academy and figured among the students who rebelled against the traditional method of study. Gutman created a synthesis between the task to create art that would express Israeli uniqueness and the modern trends of European Art. Gutman painted sets for theatrical productions. He created a mosaic wall at the Rabbinate in Tel Aviv in the Shalom Tower building and in the Herzlia High School. In 1976, he received the Israel Prize. His works are sold for thousands of dollars. Nahum Gutman is considered to be one of the most revered and popular artists.
