What is pycnogenol?
Pycnogenol is the trade name of a nutritional supplement containing an extract derived from the bark of a French pine tree.
Tree bark has been used as a folk remedy for many diseases for centuries. Pycnogenol has been produced since the early 1950s in the south of France and has been widely researched (see selected studies below). Since then, pycnogenol has become a popular dietary supplement sold in many countries under the brand name. The active ingredient in the product is essentially the same as the active ingredient in grape seed extracts and cocoa extracts, although it is usually in higher concentrations.
What are the uses of pycnogenol?
Pycnogenol (pycnogenol) acts as a strong antioxidant and as a blood flow enhancer.
As such, it is mainly consumed for problems that may improve as a result of improved blood flow, including:
Allergies and asthma
Sporting performance
Eye problems
Pains resulting from a blood flow problem, such as leg pain
Aging of the skin
Strengthening the immune system
What does is recommended?
The recommended dose ranges from 50 mg to 350 mg per day, depending on the problem you want to treat.
Most supplements are given in doses of 50 mg - 120 mg, twice daily,
with the food. The treating physician should be consulted to determine the most desirable dose
