A unique shofar horn, this artful Yemenite kudu horn shofar would make a special addition to any observant Jew’s Rosh Hashana / New Year festival celebration and Judaica collection. Its polished and lengthy surface is ornamented with stunning silver-plated sleeves, embossed intricately with images of religious significance: the holy Menorah candelabra known for its presence in both the Mishkan/Tabernacle and Batei Mikdash/Holy Temples of the Holy Land. As a shofarot goes, this Yemenite horn is by far one of the most stunning.
The shofar, sound-wise, can produce two types of sound: staccato bursts and long, wailing calls. It is typically made from the horn of a kosher animal, such as a sheep or ram. Ram’s horn shofars are the most popular variety, but the traditional Yemenite shofarot are distinct because they are made from the incredibly longhorn of a kudu.
